Resolutions: How to Succeed Even If You Fail

Colourful 2014 in fiery sparklers

Ah yes, it’s that time again.  The time when we look ourselves in the mirror and become determined to be a better person.  The time when we make resolutions for ourselves.  However, if you’re anything like me, then those New Year’s resolutions don’t always turn out to be as successful as originally hoped.  No matter what goals we have for 2014, we can succeed this year even if we fail at keeping our resolutions.  Proverbs 3 tells us how:

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.  Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.”

Brad Paisley said, “Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.”  The best way to do have a great year is to make sure God is found on every page.  If we can look back one year from now and say we have trusted the Lord, feared the Lord, acknowledge the Lord, and turned away from evil, then 2014 will have been a success!
